Procurement and HR Experts to Speak on PASIA's HR Day

     Four of the most notable names in the field of procurement and human resources will speak for PASIA’s HR Day on Talent Development for Supply Management, Procurement and Operations Management on January 13, 2010 at the AIM Conference Center. 

    They are Charlie Villaseñor, President and CEO of TransProcure; Augusto Arguelles,  DLSU Professor in Operations and Supply Chain Management; Lirio Mapa, Vice President of the Center for Leadership and Change and Ernie Cecilia of EC Business Solutions and Career Center. 


Charlie Villaseñor is regarded as the Procurement Icon of  Asia. He is the president and CEO of TransProcure (www.transprocure.com), a leading global procurement solutions and services company. He is also the chairman of the Procurement and Sourcing Institute of Asia (PASIA), an official affiliate of the U.S.-based Institute for Supply Management (ISM). ISM is the oldest and largest supply management institute in the world and the most respected one.

Charlie was a key member of the leadership team in launching the global Procurement transformation of CALTEX (ChevronTexaco) in Asia in 1998. He was founder and COO of the Philippines largest procurement portal that was previously owned by a consortium of the country’s six largest multi-industry conglomerates. He became the ASEAN Managing Director of Ariba, a spend management software company based in Singapore. He held various senior supply management positions in 3M and Coca-Cola companies.  He has multiple industry exposure in procurement and supply management, notably in the oil and gas, manufacturing, telecommunications, financial services, transportation, construction, and retail industries.

A regular speaker in the global procurement circuit, he advances the opportunities of Philippines as a global procurement capital.




 
Marlon Herft is the Channel Manager of SkillSoft for the Asia Pacific Region. He is an advocate of the growing trend of eLearning and will share stories of the different companies he has worked with who have successfully integrated technology into their training programs and how they did it.



Richard Low is SkillSoft's Learning Consultant Team Lead for Asia and is responsible for strategic program implementation using the unique SkillSoft methodology including business alignment, program goal setting, marketing & communication strategy and program measurement.  In addition, Richard also supports the SkillSoft Asia channel partner business and provides consultation to SkillSoft partner in customer engagement and program implementation. 

SkillSoft is a leading provider of e-Learning solutions for all kinds of businesses. SkillSoft enables organizations to maximize business performance through a combination of comprehensive e-learning content, online information resources, flexible learning technologies and support services.


Ernie Cecilia has 35 years of solid experience and training in human resources management and consulting.  He has held key HR posts in the food and beverage, petroleum, and pharmaceutical and health care industries, particularly in United Laboratories, Inc., Caltex (Philippines), Inc., and San Miguel Corporation, from 1975 to 2000.  He went into full-time consulting practice in 2001.  As a human resources practitioner and consultant, he has developed innovative ways of managing people.

Ernie served as the 1999 President of the Personnel Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP).  He also serves today in the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (AMCHAM) as Chairman of the Industrial Relations Committee and member of the Strategic Issues Group (SIG) that acts as consultant to the US Ambassador on Philippine affairs.  He was Chairman of the Committee on Long Range Policy Planning of the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP).  Ernie is also a member of the national Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (TIPC), the consultative body of the President of the republic on labor relations.


Haritbhai Bhatt Is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the M.S. University-Baroda-India. He has a Diploma in Materials Management-IIMM-India and has an Advanced Certificate with Distinction in International Purchasing and Supply Chain Management-ITC (Geneva).

Mr. Bhatt has worked for more than 30 years in Materials and Supply Management at senior levels. He has planned and arranged procurement of Chemicals, Engineering and other items worth more thaan $60 million per annum. He has also strategized and executed plans for Inventory management, logistics and Warehousing. Mr. Bhatt has retired as Senior Manager from M/s Indian Petrochemicals Corp. Ltd.-a public sector unit of Government of India.
At present, he is a consultant and trainer for the Indian Institute of Materials Management and a member of the National Council and Board of Studies in IIMM.
 

Lirio Ongpin-Mapa is the Vice President of the Center for Leadership and Change, the exclusive Philippine Licensee of Franklin CoveyR Organizational Services. 

She is an experienced consultant in the area of organization effectiveness, leadership development, total quality and change management. As Executive Coach, senior consultant, and accredited Franklin Covey facilitator, she conducts workshops in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Leadership GreatnessTM, 4 Disciplines of ExecutionTM, strategic planning, and teambuilding. She was the Human Resources Associate Director and internal consultant for Organization Development, Total Quality Management, and Corporate Training at Procter & Gamble Philippines for ten years. She served as the President of the Philippine Society for Training & Development (PSTD) in 1993, as the Chairman of the Philippine Society for Training and Development Foundation in 2006, and as Vice President of the Philippine Quality and Productivity Movement from 2004-2006.

Prior to joining Procter & Gamble Phils. in 1986, Ms. Mapa was the HRD manager of Philippine Phosphate Fertilizer Corporation, and supervising consultant to the Bureau of Domestic Trade, Department of Trade and Industry. For several years, she served as faculty member of Assumption San Lorenzo, High School and College Departments. 


Augusto A. Argüelles is currently a professor at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business and a Trainer for the UN International Trade Center (UN-ITC).

He was with the Strategic Sourcing & Supply Management at BayanTrade and was also a Senior Consultant at the Ancilla Enterprise Development Consulting. He worked with Union Carbide/Eveready Battery Co., as Materials Manager, Assistant Plant Manager and TQM Coordinator. Before Eveready he was a Supervising Consultant at the Economic Development Foundation. He started his management career with Procter & Gamble as Industrial Engineer.

He served in the Board of Directors of the Purchasing Association of the Philippines and the Distribution Management Association of the Philippines. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Pastoral Development and a member of the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals.

Mr. Argüelles obtained his Masters in Industrial Engineering and Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from the University of the Philippines and is currently enrolled in the PhD program of the Southeast Asia Interdisciplinary Development Institute. He holds an Advanced International Certificate (with Distinction) on International Purchasing and Supply Chain Management (IPSCM) from the UN-ITC.

 
Edwin C. Ebreo is the founder and President of ExeQserve, Corporation, an HR Solutions Company. He is also the company’s head consultant for Organization Development and Human Resource Development.

Prior to establishing ExeQserve, Mr. Ebreo worked as HR Director/Manager for CheQ Systems, a Software Quality Engineering Company, Athena E-Services Group of Companies, a BPO company and PET Plans, a pre-need company that had a diverse number subsidiaries that Ed was tasked to manage. During his stint with these companies, Ed was able to develop his expertise in managing the HR Department as a shared resource among groups of companies, handling no less than three companies at a time. He was also Head of Training for SPI Technologies, one of the largest and pioneering BPO companies in the Philippines. He also headed the training department of Philippine Seven Corporation, the local licensee of the 7-Eleven chain of convenience stores. He started working as a freelance Human Resource and Organization Development Consultant on weekends at the early age of 28. He finally left full time HR Management practice 5 years ago to concentrate on consulting. He eventually setup ExeQserve Corporation in 2007 to cater to his growing clientele. His 15 years of experience helps Ed appreciate organizations and people from various industries and help them achieve their full potential through training and other HR-related interventions.       


Mimi J. Perez has been with Accenture for 14 years, six years of which is spent specializing in the area of Training and Development.  Currently, she is part of the Accenture Business Services Group and leading the following teams in HR Shared Services – Compensation and Benefits Administration, HR Reporting and the HR Service Desk.

Ms. Perez earned her degree in Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Santo Tomas and has earned units in MA in Educational Technology from DLSU.  She has also earned certifications from Accenture and vendors both here and abroad to deliver training courses.
